TECH TIP #113– ALTERNATOR TESTING

If you see only battery voltage present at the battery on a running engine, does it mean that the alternator is “‘bad?” NO! It just means that the alternator isn’t charging,but it doesn’t tell you why – so it doesn’t prove that the alternator is “bad.” This test can even cause technicians to blame the alternator – but remember –one test is not enough!
