TECH TIP #110 – YOUR STARTER SYSTEM

False starts and rock back can happen when the engine starts. causing the pinion gear to release, and then stops. When this happens, the engine will often rock back, especially in late model high-compression engines. If you try to restart the engine at the moment it is rocking back, you can cause serious damage – anything from a broken Bendix gear to stripped gears and broken housings. Call us first!
